Getting Started
What do I need for my first class?
Comfortable, preferably athletic clothes and shoes. We also recommend a water bottle. If there’s snow or rain outside, we ask that you bring a change of shoes. We try to avoid tracking outside onto our fencing floors.
What about starting gear?
We have weapons and protective gear to get you started; don’t worry about that initially. We want to make sure that you have the right equipment for your body type and fencing interests before you spend money on it. When you’re ready to buy equipment, we’ll talk you through the process, after you’ve had some lessons and practice
Learning More
How do I find out about sport fencing?
USA Fencing is the umbrella group for sport fencing, including epee, saber, and foil. They provide the framework for tournaments and manage the national teams. They’ve got more general information about the sport than we could hope to include here.
What is HEMA?
We study a range of historical weapons from the Middle Ages up through the early 20th century. Our techniques are based on historical manuscripts, including many that are available on Wiktenauer.
What’s an LED Saber?
Star Wars made the lightsaber iconic, and we want to embrace its ways. We train to compete with lit-up polycarbonate blades under a variety of different rule sets, including The Saber Legion.
